Sukanto Tanoto is the Founder and Chairman of RGE.
Mr. Tanoto started his first business in 1967 as a supplier of spare parts and construction contractor to the oil industry. In 1973, the visionary entrepreneur founded RGE as a plywood business. RGE has since progressed from being a local-only player to become a truly global one. Today, its business groups are at the forefront of industries such as pulp and paper (APRIL and Asia Symbol), palm oil (Asian Agri and Apical), viscose staple fiber (Sateri and Asia Pacific Rayon), specialty cellulose (Bracell), and energy development (Pacific Oil & Gas),with operations spanning Indonesia, China, Brazil, Canada, Spain and sales offices in more countries worldwide.
RGE’s businesses operate on Mr. Tanoto’s 5 C’s philosophy of doing what is good for the Community, Country, Climate and Customer, and only then will it be good for the Company.
Believing that everyone should have the opportunity to realise his or her potential, Sukanto Tanoto and his family started the Tanoto Foundation in 1981. The Foundation seeks to harness the transformative strength of education to help people realise their full potential and to improve lives by focusing on driving impact in three areas: Education, leadership development, as well as medical research and sciences.
Mr. Tanoto is a member of the INSEAD International Council, the Wharton Board of Overseers and various other educational, community and industry bodies. He is a recipient of the Wharton School Dean’s Medal Award, which recognises individuals for their contributions to the enlargement of the global economy and to the improvement of lives worldwide.

Tey Wei Lin
Group President,
RGE
Tey Wei Lin is the Group President of RGE, a global group operating in the bio-based resources and energy sectors, with a workforce of more than 80,000 people serving over 100 markets worldwide. RGE’s operations span Indonesia, China, Brazil, Canada, Spain and Malaysia. Wei Lin has management responsibilities for all of RGE’s global businesses, including Fibre, Agribusiness and Energy, as well as key corporate functions.
Since joining RGE in 2001, Wei Lin has held leadership positions across geographies and business lines, including serving as Chairman of the RGE China Management Committee, CEO of Sateri and CEO of Bracell. He is also a member of the the Investment Advisory Committee at Pacific Eagle Asset Management, a single-family office which invests globally across public and private markets, with a medium- to long-term investment horizon.
Prior to joining RGE, Wei Lin was Vice President at GIC Real Estate, the real estate investment arm of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a First Class Honours from the National University of Singapore.
Bey Soo Khiang
Vice Chairman,
RGE Chairman, APRIL Group
Since 2011, Bey Soo Khiang has served as the Vice-Chairman of RGE and Chairman of APRIL Group. At RGE, he oversees all its business groups in areas such as sustainability, continuous improvement, knowledge management and digital transformation.
As the Chairman of APRIL Group, Soo Khiang actively guides APRIL Group’s operations in Indonesia on matters relating to fibre plantations and manufacturing operations.
He is also a member of the Board of Advisors for Tanoto Foundation, where he helps shape longer-term direction of the Foundation.
Before joining RGE, Soo Khiang spent 11 years in Singapore Airlines (SIA) holding positions in Technical/Operations areas as well as in Human Resources. He held key appointments such as Chairman of SIA Cargo Pte Ltd, Chairman of Silkair Pte Ltd, Chairman of Singapore Flying College, and Board Member of Virgin Atlantic Limited.
A former Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) overseas scholar, Soo Khiang made significant contributions in the transformation of the Republic of Singapore Air Force into a modern and advanced air force as Chief of Air Force. He assumed the top post as Singapore’s Chief of Defence Force (CDF) from 1995-2000 and played an instrumental role in defence diplomacy by strengthening and expanding ties between the SAF and other armed forces around the world.
While serving as the CDF, he was also appointed as a member of the Board of Directors for Singapore Technologies Engineering and Singapore Airlines Limited.
Soo Khiang holds a Master in Arts (Engineering) from University of Cambridge and a Master in Public Administration from Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He has also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Imelda Tanoto
Managing Director, RGE
Imelda Tanoto is the Managing Director of RGE, a global group operating in the bio-based resources and energy sectors, with a workforce of more than 80,000 people serving over 100 markets worldwide. RGE’s operations span Indonesia, China, Brazil, Canada, Spain and Malaysia.
As a member of RGE’s Executive Management Board, Imelda provides long-term strategic direction for the group across all businesses, shaping priorities, guiding growth pathways, and steering value creation over time.
She is also Managing Director of Pacific Eagle Asset Management, a single-family office established in 2002 to provide fund management services to the family of Mr Sukanto Tanoto. Based in Singapore and Hong Kong, the family office invests globally across public and private markets with a medium- to long-term horizon. As a member of its Investment Advisory Committee, Imelda shapes the firm’s strategic direction, including asset allocation, asset class oversight, and governance of staffing and operations.
Beyond her corporate roles, Imelda serves on the Board of Trustees of Tanoto Foundation, an independent philanthropic organisation focused on catalysing systems change in education, healthcare, and leadership development across Indonesia, China, Singapore, and Brazil.
Imelda holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, with triple majors in Finance, Management, and Real Estate, and serves on the Executive Board for Asia at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Kelvin Tio is a Director of the RGE Executive Management Board and Deputy Chairman of the RGE Palm Business Board.
Mr Tio oversees RGE’s agriculture business, encompassing upstream and downstream operations at Asian Agri and Apical and is also the President of Apical, an appointment he has held since 2024. As President of Apical, he provides leadership and strategic direction across its operations in mid-stream refining, downstream processing and commercial operations.
With over 25 years of experience in the commodities industry, Mr Tio’s was previously Managing Director of Asian Agri, one of Asia’s largest palm oil producers, where he led the management of 100,000 hectares of plantations and developed partnerships with over 30,000 smallholders.
