
Anderson Tanoto
Managing Director, RGE
Anderson Tanoto is Managing Director at RGE and a member of its Executive Management Board. Headquartered in Singapore, RGE is a global group of companies in the bio-based resources and energy sectors, serving over 100 markets worldwide. With assets exceeding US$40 billion and a workforce of 80,000 people globally, our operations span across Indonesia, China, Brazil, Canada, Spain and Malaysia. Anderson is also a member of the executive committee of APRIL Group, a leading pulp and paper producer.
Anderson drives RGE’s strategic growth initiatives and is closely involved in the group’s fibre operations and business transformation activities, specifically on sustainability and conservation efforts. These include the Riau Ecosystem Restoration (RER) initiative, a first-of-its-kind that integrates production plantations with forest conservation and restoration, located in Riau, Indonesia. He also spearheaded the construction of the world’s largest fossil-fuel free pulp mill in Brazil.
He serves as Chairman for the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (KADIN) Brazil Committee, and has been its representative to Canada since 2018. Anderson is also a Champion for Nature at the World Economic Forum (WEF). He has held memberships in the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020’s Southeast Asia Regional Committee, Wharton Executive Board for Asia, and WEF’s Global Agenda Council on Forests.
