RGE and its Business Groups are guided by our purpose of improving lives by developing resources sustainably. We are committed to sustainable development in all locations where we operate, inspired by our founder's 5Cs principle that whatever we do must be good for the Community, Country, Climate and Customer, and only then will it be good for the Company. We fully support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to promote a balance across social and economic development, and the protection and enhancement of climate and nature.
RGE adheres to transparent and ethical business practices, and expects our suppliers to uphold the same standards of integrity, honesty, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the countries where we operate.
RGE will not engage in or tolerate any form of corruption, bribery, or unethical behaviour, and will require the same of our suppliers.
The RGE Responsible Sourcing Policy outlines our commitment to these principles and sets forth the framework by which we source materials and engage with suppliers. This Policy is guided by the Group Sustainability Policy.
Scope
This Policy applies to RGE, all current and any future Business Groups (BGs) under RGE.
All the employees, contractors, consultants and suppliers are expected to adhere to this Policy and in general, act responsibly and ethically. If a law conflicts with this Policy, RGE and its BGs will comply with the law.
Implementation
To ensure the effective implementation of this Policy, RGE and its BGs will establish clear procedures and guidelines for compliance and for conducting due diligence and risk assessments of its suppliers in order to identify and mitigate any risks of non-compliance.
With regard to our supply chains, RGE, through its central procurement functions and the BGs' procurement departments, will:
- Meet the relevant local, national and regional laws
- Act in accordance with internationally declared principles and standards, including but not limited to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals and the ten principles of the UN Global Compact.
- Require all our suppliers to comply with the RGE Sustainability Policy, Wood/Fibre Sourcing Policy, Human Rights Policy, Anti-Corruption & Bribery Policy, and Code of Procurement Ethics.
- Develop Due Diligence Systems and Standard Operating Procedures that will specify criteria that suppliers must meet to ensure compliance with our policies and standards.
- Conduct thorough due diligence when selecting suppliers against a range of sustainability and responsible business practice criteria to determine any existing or potential risk to the environment, their workforce, their local communities, and to RGE business Groups, taking into consideration their environmental practices, labour standards, and corporate governance.
- Undertake performance reviews, including audits and other assessment methods, of any high-risk suppliers and support them in improving their risk management performance.
- If areas of non-compliance or improvement opportunities are identified, work collaboratively with suppliers to build their capabilities and implement corrective actions.
- Adopt an engagement and collaborative approach to encourage a supply chain transformation while reserving the right to suspend or terminate the business
- relationships when options for improvement have been fully explored.
- Offer training, support and long-term partnerships to local businesses, where relevant, particularly small and medium enterprises.
- Ensure that the RGE whistleblowing reporting lines are accessible to all employees, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report and raise concerns about any behaviour or activities of its supply chain that may conflict with this and other RGE policies. Grievances raised through the whistleblowing mechanism will be managed through a transparent process, with clear timelines and resolution.
We are committed to continuously improving our responsible sourcing practices and will regularly review and update our Responsible Sourcing Policy to ensure its alignment with evolving industry standards and best practices.
