It boasts a total oil palm plantation area of 160,000 hectares, of which 60,000 hectares is developed with small holders under the Plasma/KKPA schemes, one of the largest and most successful community partnership scheme in Indonesia that has brought economic benefits and social transformation to 29,000 smallholder families, all located in Sumatra.

Asian Agri strongly believes that the production and use of palm oil must be done in a sustainable manner based on economic, social and environmental viability. The Group is a strong advocate of the no-burn policy, integrated pest control, soil moisture preservation and other environmental best practices. Through its operating subsidiary PT Inti Indosawit Subur, Asian Agri is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a global multi-stakeholder initiative that promotes the growth and use of sustainable palm oil.

Palm oil is an extremely versatile product with uses ranging from food manufacturing and processing to cooking, cosmetics, toiletries, lubricants as well as biofuels. Due to its competitive cost and high functionality, palm oil enjoys the highest market share in the global edible oils market.
